SENSE & SENSIBILITY

June 6 - 22

Adapted by Kate Hamill

Directed by Eric Ruiter

Kate Hamill’s award-winning new adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel follows the fortunes (and misfortunes) of the Dashwood sisters—sensible Elinor and hypersensitive Marianne—after their father’s sudden death leaves them financially destitute and socially vulnerable. Rowdy, exuberant, inventive and thoroughly hilarious, Sense and Sensibility is a timeless delight “...so full of galloping comic vitality as to suggest a bunch of stupendously clever kids playing dress-up in the nursery.” (Wall Street Journal)

July 11 - 27

Written by William Shakespeare

Directed by Mike Eastman

In a city overrun with sex and vice, the sanctimonious Angelo takes leadership with a goal of cleaning up the city. However, his new proclamation might go too far when it threatens to take the life of noble Claudio for getting his betrothed with child the wedding. Claudio’s sister, Isabella, must emerge from the convent, where she is on the verge of taking her vows, to plead for the life of her brother so Angelo might excuse the sin they both hate. Can the hard heart of Angelo be won over by the pious and endearing nun-to-be? What would you sacrifice in the name of compassion?

OTHELLO

August 8 - 24

Written by William Shakespeare

Directed by John Edward Clark

Fueled by the manipulations of his lieutenant Iago, Othello - the black general of the armies of Venice - spirals from hero to murderer in one of Shakespeare’s most haunting tragedies. Once praised by the Venetian populace for his military successes, Othello faces rejection for his marriage to Desdemona, the daughter of a prominent citizen. The newlyweds are determined to overcome all obstacles, until Othello’s assignment to an exotic new location draws them into a web of lies and deceit spun by his envious lieutenant, Iago. A story of jealousy, racism, manipulation and betrayal, Shakespeare’s Othello is a tale for our time.

COMEDY OF ERRORS

September 5 - 21

Written by William Shakespeare

Directed by Alejandro Lang

Mistaken identity. Seduction. Theft. Demonic Possession. It all sounds like the plot of a crazy TV soap opera! But it’s Shakespeare... The Comedy of Errors is one of William Shakespeare’s early plays. It is his shortest and one of his most farcical comedies, with a major part of the humour coming from slapstick and mistaken dentities, puns and word play. It has been adapted for opera, stage, screen and musical theatre numerous times worldwide.
